Ospreys are migratory birds that have a world-wide distribution. Every continent except Antarctica hosts Ospreys during different stages of their life-cycle.
They are found near the seacoast or by large bodies of water, where they feed on either fresh or salt-water fish. There is just one species of Osprey but four different subspecies.
The Osprey Centre at Piperdam provides a wealth of information on Scottish Ospreys - particularly those in Tayside. Its beautiful large photographic displays, anecdotes, migration maps and unusual information collected over many years, are a special feature.
Nature permitting, the pair of nesting ospreys can usually be viewed between March & September.
